Stephen Wilson Bethel, the actor was born on February 24, 1984, to Joyce Maynard and Stephen Bethel. He grew up in the Hillsborough neighborhood of New Hampshire, United States.

His mother was of Jew and English background, his grandfather was an English man, and his grandmother was a Jewish immigrant from World War II. He also shares Welsh background, inherited from his father. In 1989, Bethel’s parents’ marriage ended in divorce. After the separation, Bethel was relocated with his mother to Keene, New Hampshire along with his siblings.

Bethel apparently completed his primary and high school education in Keene, New Hampshire, after relocating with his mother.

He decided not to opt for higher education after high school. So, he took some time off and traveled around different parts of Africa. After returning to the United States following his travel journey, he started to pursue his dream of becoming a successful actor.
