Early Life
Mekka was brought up by Mariam (née Apkarian), a dry-cleaning presser, and Vahe Vaughn Mekjian, a manufacturing worker. They raised Mekka in Worcester, Massachusetts when he was young. His ancestors were of Armenian origin. His father served in World War II. He studied at ‘Berklee College of Music’ after graduating from ‘Burncoat High School’.
